Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 15 "A Wondrous Place" Review

Hook finds himself trapped in another realm and races to get back to Emma; Regina and Snow try to take Emma's mind off from Hook's disappearance; Jasmine befriends Ariel.

This was a really great episode that was so entertaining and fun to watch. This episode was the Aladdin and Jasmine episode that I have been waiting for since the beginning of the season and it took a little over half the season to actually get to this episode. I really liked that they brought Ariel back in this episode and it was really interesting how they used her. I really liked all the moments in the past in Agrabah and Jasmine is trying to find a way to get out of  marrying Jafar by trying to find another hero to replace the disappeared Aladdin. And I loved how they brought Hook into the Aladdin Jasmine story with him helping them find Jafar and Agrabah. The Moments back in Storybrooke were okay but really kind of felt thrown in there to give the main characters some screen time. I would have much more preferred to just see the scenes where Emma is packing up all of Hooks things and the scene where Emma finds the shellphone and hears hooks message and that is it. But I do have to say overall this was a really entertaining and fun episode to watch.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 14 "Page 23" Review

Believing there isn't room in Storybrooke for both her and Regina, the Evil Queen sets out to eliminate her other half. Hook, determined to make things work with Emma, turns to his old friend Captain Nemo for advice, but Gideon torpedoes the plan before he's able to set things right.

This was such a boring and pointless episode that was really unneeded. Because they brought back the Evil Queen at the end of the last episode just to completely get rid of her in this episode. With that, I'm very happy that they got rid of Robin as well because that was another pointless story line. And how they chose to get rid of the Queen is just why? Because I would have been fine if they just killed her or had her be absorbed back into Regina those would have been fine ideas but going and sending her away to have her own happy ending is just why? I did like how they chose to show Emma finding out about Hooks secret because it was kind of simple and not just someone else figuring it out. And I really liked that they brought Nemo back into the mix to help Hook out. The ending for Hook was kind of surprising and I wonder how that might affect the future because in Emma's vision Hook was there so if he is not maybe that will help change the future. And just overall this was not the greatest of episodes and kind of a pointless one.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 13 "Ill-Boding Patterns" Review

When Gideon resumes his mission to kill Emma, Mr. Gold steps in to ensure the use of dark magic doesn't poison his son; Hook learns Emma has a secret; Beowulf targets Rumplestiltskin.

This was a really interesting episode that was entertaining to watch but not really all that exciting. I really liked how most of this episode focused on Rumple and getting to know a bit more of his back story and him helping out Gideon. I loved the introduction of Beowulf in this episode because his story was one of the few books in school I actually enjoyed reading and I was very interested to see what they would do with his story. I found it a little weird how no one in the village seemed to know that Rumple was the dark one until Beowulf brought it up. And I really liked what they did with Baelfire and him using the dagger to help his father make decisions. The parts about Gideon repairing the sword was interesting with all the things he had to do to fix it. But the idea of Rumple darkening his heart to make sure Gideon never has to darken his heart seems a little too weird and confusing for me to accept it as a reasonable solution. Then the moments with Hook in this episode were great with him struggling on whether or not he should tell Emma the truth about David's father. And with how this episode ended I wonder what will happen to him in the future when the truth does come out. And just overall this was a really interesting episode but it was also a little boring of one.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 12 "Murder Most Foul" Review

Hook agrees to help David uncover the truth about his father, hoping to gain his respect; Regina discovers Robin has a dark side that may complicate his acclimation to life in Storybrooke.

This was a really interesting episode that wasn't all the exciting it was just a lot of side story that I didn't really care to see in the first place. All the moments between Robin and Regina went down basically the way I was expecting it to with her holding his hand through everything. The moment with Zelena popping up to tell Regina to keep Robin away from baby Robin was a little unnecessary and seemed to go from 0 to 100 in anger really quickly. I did really like the ending where Regina comes to the conclusion that maybe Robin didn't come through the portal for her but something else and that is a really interesting part of Robin's story that I kind of would be okay with seeing. Then all the moments with David were so weird with how David seemed like a completely different and selfish person that was dead set on this quest to find who killed his father. It was interesting to watch Hook follow David around and David treating him just like another old pirate. I did really like the flashbacks of David's father and him going on this quest to find James and bring him back home. Especially the scene where they go to pleasure island and run into Pinocchio and all the other problems around that. Then the twist ending of who actually killed David's father was really interesting and I can't wait to see how that will play out. And just overall this was a really interesting episode but I really hope that will get back to the main story sometime soon.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 11 "Tougher Than the Rest" Review

With Snow still asleep in Storybrooke, David and Hook try to stop Gideon before he confronts Emma; Regina realizes that everyone is better off in the alternate world where the Evil Queen was defeated; Emma discovers the power to change her fate.

This was a really interesting episode that wasn't all that exciting but it was good for reintroducing everything since it has been quite a while since the last episode. I really enjoyed all the moments with Emma and Regina trying to escape the alternate world and all the different help they got in doing so. I really liked that they brought Pinocchio back because he is one of my favorite side characters and I liked that he had his own little story about gaining confidence and believing in yourself. Then I kind of like the thing that Emma realized in this episode which was if you believe hard enough anything can come true. Then bringing Robin Hood back I kind of have mixed feeling because I really like Robin Hood as a character but I also would kind of rather he stay dead because then there are fewer characters to jump between. And now we have to deal with him trying to fit into the life of the other Robin Hood, and that will just be a mess. The moments with David and Hook were interesting with their quest to save Emma. And Belle and Rumple trying to connect with their son was interesting with them seeming to have different plans in mind. But I do have to say overall this was a really interesting and okay episode to watch.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 10 "Wish You Were Here" Review

The Evil Queen uses Aladdin's lamp to make Emma's wish of never being the Savior come true, sending Emma to an alternate reality of the Enchanted Forest; Regina and David both make bold moves in order to try to find Emma; Gold and Belle receive surprising news about their son.

This was a very interesting episode that had some really great moments to it and some things were a little wired. When it was brought up that this episode was going to have Emma no longer being the savior I didn't know what to expect them to do. And what they did do was okay because I liked the idea that the enchanted forest was doing okay with Emma not being a savior but the fact that they made Emma such a weakling that just seemed so odd and not right, because you can still be a bad-ass princess and not be the savior. I liked the moments with Regina where she had to deal with everyone hating her again and she had to dress-up and play the role of the Evil Queen. Then it was kind of cool to see Henry as a knight and a little bit of a savior. The ending for Emma and Regina was really kind of weak because they missed their portal home just because Regina got distracted, Emma could have just shoved her in the portal or something instead of them both standing there yelling at each other. All the moments with the Evil Queen in this episode were okay to some degree or another. I did like the moment with the genie lamp and Regina reminds the Evil Queen that they are the same person so they both can use the genie's wishes. The moment with David fighting the Evil Queen really made very little to no sense at all. Gold and Belle in this episode seemed like a pretty cool storyline that I'm interested in seeing when the show comes back. And I did really like that they ended this first half of the season with relieving who it is under the hood that is destined to kill Emma. And just overall this was a really fun and entertaining episode.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 9 "Changelings" Review

Mr. Gold has gone too far, he is turning back into the beast that everyone feared, He has made Belle go into labor.

This was a very interesting episode that had some good moments but I really don't know how I feel about the episode as a whole. I liked the struggle of who is worse between Gold and the Evil Queen where there once growing relationship is now completely broken and falling apart. The fight between Zelena and the Evil Queen I was really hoping that there would be more to it because that is a fight I would rather enjoying watching, but Zelena just went and got the crap beaten out of her without  even trying to fight back. It was nice to have Regina back in the picture with Zelena after they have been ignoring each other even if it wasn't fully intentional to do so. All the moments with Belle were really great both in the current times and flashback moments. I liked the story of how Rumple's mother is a fairy and a dark one at that it is a really interesting story idea that I hope they expand on a bit more in the future. And it was also an interesting connection they decided to make to give a reason as to why Rumple hates fairies. Then all the dream moments between Belle and her son were really well done but I wish Gideon could have explained a bit more beyond saying things like "you know what to do," or "the answer is right in front of you," those seemed like such weak lines to me. The ending was kind of cool and I liked that Belle didn't tell Gold the name of their son, that I found a very clever moment to connect to the character of Rumple and the power he can do with just simply having a name. Overall I really enjoyed this episode and it was done really well for it not being about the more main characters of the story.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 8 "I'll Be Your Mirror" Review

Emma and Regina work together and form a plan to trap the Evil Queen, while Snow White and David get used to life without each other. Henry anxiously prepares to take Violet to the school dance, but the Evil Queen has other plans. Meanwhile, Zelena and Belle form an alliance and recruit Aladdin to steal a magical object from Mr. Gold that could protect Belle and her unborn child from him forever.

This was a really interesting and great episode that was really entertaining to watch. I loved seeing the land of mirrors and that fact that they were willing to harken back at least in one moment to when Sidney used to live in this world. Then it was made even better by the fact that they brought the Dragon back into the mix which was really cool to see but I wish they would have done a bit more with him. The Evil Queen's whole plan to get Henry to understand her more seemed a little far fetch that she thought she could make Henry hurt anybody no matter who's life is at stake. I do want to know a bit more about the hammer she gave to Henry because I'm not all that familiar with it and I didn't quite catch the name of it. Then how does the Evil Queen expect Henry to accept her when in the event he doesn't do what she asks she calls him weak, that is not how you gain trust lady. The parts with Snow and David were nice to see but not all that exciting because it basically went down the way I was expecting it to go. Then all the scenes with Belle were really great in seeing her work through this elaborate plan to try and get away from Gold. I like the scene with Aladdin where we finally get to see him be his self and break into Gold's shop to retrieve some items. I really can't wait to see what they'll do with the genie even though it is supposedly a different genie from the original one. Then I also liked seeing a bit more self-absorbed Jasmine in this episode where at first all she cared about was her own mission to find Agrabah. Overall I really enjoyed this episode and it ended with so many doors left open I can't wait to see what will happen when it comes back in a few weeks.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 7 "Heartless" Review

Bandit Snow dodges a bounty hunter while shepherd David goes on a fateful journey; the Evil Queen threatens to destroy Storybrooke unless Snow and David surrender their hearts; David and Regina search for a magical sapling.

This was a very interesting episode that was alright but there were some parts that I didn't really care for. All of the back stories between Snow and David was very interesting, and at first, I was a little annoyed because I thought they were going to do a first-time introduction between the two of them again for the like fourth time. But lucky they didn't instead they managed to construct it in a way so that the two characters talk to each other but never formally introduce themselves to one another, with I found to be a kind of cool idea. They did make one mistake in that scene, however, is that they forgot about David's Shepard hair that was a bit longer than his regular hair unless they want us to believe that in the time between this encounter and when he first becomes a prince is when he grows out his hair. Then I really enjoyed the little moment of Hook's story time with Emma, I thought it was a really cute moment. The idea of the sapling was very interesting to me because I thought it was a very clever idea but along the lines of the evil queen if it were me I would have just burnt the sapling instead of what she did which was break it and then burn it, I thought that was a bit of overkill. Zelena was a little confusing in this episode because the first scene you see of her it seems like she knows that the Evil Queen and Rumple are together, but then later she is surprised to she them making out , I just don't understand what was suppose to be going on there. Then the new curse that the Evil Queen put on Snow and David I really kind of like it because it is not deadly or anything like that it is just really inconvenient for the two of them. Overall I enjoyed watching this episode I just did care for certain parts here and there.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 6 "Dark Waters" Review

The Evil Queen creates distrust between Henry and Hook; Hook is kidnapped by Captain Nemo and held inside his famous submarine, the Nautilus.

This was a very interesting episode that was a little confusing at parts, but it did a really great job at having a pretty solid story. The whole plot of having this anger between Henry and Hook seemed to come out of nowhere in my mind even with the help of the Evil Queen talking to Henry before all the conflict started. It just seemed really odd to me that they had all this anger and conflict between each other and the idea of Hook coming and joining the family and it was only really brought up right now in this episode, that just doesn't work out right in my mind. I really loved them bringing Captain Nemo into the story but I really wish they could have explored his story a bit more then what this episode did because it is such a great story. But instead they connected back some of the loose strings of Hook's story which was still a good idea and I enjoy how they went about bringing Leam 2 back into the story, but I still really wanted more of Nemo. Then don't get why Henry and Hook thought that the idea of keeping the shears was bad because I completely understand why you would want to keep it because when the time comes and there are no other options you can cut her from her fate.      The scene where Snow and Charming went in and broke Jiminy out of Zelena's house was really great but what are they going to do now that Jiminy is a cricket again. Then all the things with Belle, Gold, and the Evil Queen were really interesting and some parts I was not expecting and I can't wait to see what might happen between all of them in the future. Overall this was a really great episode and I can't wait for more.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 5 "Street Rats" Review

In a flashback, Aladdin helps Princess Jasmine recover a secret weapon that could release Jafar's hold on the Sultan and save the city; in Storybrooke, the evil queen tricks Hook and tries to divide the family.

This was a really great episode that finally did what they promised at the end of last season they finally did an episode where they managed to focus somewhat solely on Aladdin and his whole story. I kind of liked the idea of Emma's whole quest to try and find Aladdin and if she can manage to find Aladdin alive then that could easily mean that she could find a way to change her story and stay alive as well. Which of course that didn't quite go as planned but how it all eventually turned out it was kind of okay because maybe Emma's whole quest can change to where it becomes her trying to not become like Aladdin did. I didn't really care for the idea that Jasmine went about trying to trick Aladdin into becoming the savior because with that story plot I can easily see why in the future Aladdin would go and free himself from being the savior because it is not something he actually wanted it something kind of forced upon him, which the parallels to Emma are not going unnoticed. Which with that I really liked the scene between Jasmine and Henry where they share the fact that they kind of have done the similar thing to create their savior. The one part that kind of confused me was the part where they used a magical potion to track down Aladdin by linking one savior to another, but I don't really like that still managed to work even though by that time Aladdin had already cut his bond with being a savior so if anything I don't think it should have worked at all. Then I'm kind of annoyed with the fact that the oracle is dead because her whole role in the broader story will probably go unexplained and it also annoyed me that everybody kind of forgot to question Jasmine about who actually killed the oracle once they found out that she was princess Jasmine because maybe she didn't kill the oracle herself but she probably saw who did it. Then all the parts with Zelena and the Evil Queen were kind of pointless to me because I don't think the relationship between the two of them is going to last for very long. Overall this was a really great episode for finally showing what I have been waiting for and it managed to cover a lot of things in this one episode.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 4 "Strange Case" Review

The Evil Queen seeks to get her hands on Dr. Jekyll's serum. Snow has her first day back as a school teacher. Hook tries to save Belle from Mr. Gold.

This was a really great episode that managed to cover a lot in one episode and managed to take the story of Jekyll and Hyde and twist it into a kind of pretty cool new story. There still was the basic background to their story where Dr. Jekyll was working to try and separate man from their inner beast but after that, the story took a bit of a turn I wasn't expecting. It was a little weird having the main love interest name be changed to Mary but it is also understandable because having two Emma's might get confusing to some. Then I kind of liked the twist that had it so Jekyll is the actual main bad guy and not Hyde it just took some events to wake that bad up inside of him. I kind of knew from the very beginning of the season that probably the only way to truly kill the other half be it Hyde or the Evil Queen is to kill off the original. All the parts with Snow at school were very interesting to see and see a kind of out of practice Snow as a teacher. It was also really great because I think I spotted Tom Sawyer in her classroom. Jasmine was a little annoying with how different her character was because Jasmine isn't really supposed to be kind and sweet she is supposed to be really stuck up. So not seeing her like that was a little weird. Then Hook, Belle, and Gold were really cool to see them all interacting with each other and how that whole story played out. I really kind of liked that Gold went to Jekyll early on to see if Jekyll's experiment could truly separate the man from the beast and if it did work then Gold probably would have stolen it so that he could be with Belle and not have to worry about his other half. Overall this was a really great episode and I can't wait for the next one.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 3 "The Other Shoe" Review

Ashley is intent on settling unfinished business with her step-family; Regina tries to bribe Mr. Hyde for information on how to beat the Evil Queen; David makes a deal with Gold for information about his father.

This was a really great episode that took one of the side characters from the first season that I really enjoyed and made a whole episode about them. I really liked the episode in the first season all about Cinderella because it really was an episode that got me into Once Upon a Time so finally bringing her back into the story after all this time it was really great. The change in the storyline of Cinderella that they did in this episode was really great and I actually like it a bit better than the original with having one of Cinderella's step-sister not being as evil as it was originally put out there. And having that sister end up being friends with Cinderella I like that plot so much more than Cinderella just leaving them all in the dust as she runs off the marry the prince. Then also tying in the connections to the world of untold stories and Snow White's whole story into Cinderella's story was done really well and organized nicely. David and the coin I wished they would have done a bit more with it but the fact that they at least mentioned it was nice with what they did do. Rumpelstiltskin's whole plot in this episode to find Belle was very interesting with how he eventually went about doing just that. Emma being not able to use her magic at points here and there is a little annoying with how it is done and never explained. Then having this really saddened Emma is a little annoying with her not wanting to do much of anything just because she knows whatever she does it maybe helping in the timeline that will eventually lead to her death. Snow's whole quest to try and make things normal again is a little weird in my mind but I kind of want to see that as well. Overall I really enjoyed this episode and I can't wait for the next one.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 2 "A Bitter Draught" Review

David, Snow and Regina work together to neutralize the threat of a mysterious new arrival; Belle turns to Hook for help hiding from Mr. Gold; Emma resumes her therapy sessions.

This was actually a really interesting episode that I really did enjoy. The main part of this episode with this new/old threat to Prince Charming and Snow White was really interesting with him saying that he was working for the Evil Queen because he wasn’t wrong but he also wasn’t fully right. And that little twist chunk of the truth of who he was actually working for was kind of cool and I enjoyed that. But I’m not fully sure who the character was though because all he was referred to as was the Count of Monte Cristo, so who he was and his goals was kind of confusing because I don’t really remember him from many stories I don’t know what his wanted revenge was, but I kind of wish to know it, but I don’t think it will be possible with how this episode ended for him. Then Belles small chunk of this episode was kind of cool with her going to Hook to try and hide from Rumpelstiltskin and having that similarity between Belle and his first wife where they both end up going to Hook to escape from him was kind of fun. And I’m very curious about what the tie is between David and his father and this coin that he got at the end of this episode how that all ties together I can’t wait to see that and hopefully is not too long of a wait. I kind of understand what evil queen was up to but it doesn’t fully make sense to me because if she’s making Regina another evil queen how is that all going to work out. And then Zelena’s whole role was very interesting and I don’t think that Zelena will stick with being friends with the Evil Queen for very long. And the ending where Emma sort of comes to terms with who the person in the white hood might be was interesting, and her ideas are not wrong but I also don’t think it’s good to be who she thinks it is. Overall this was a very enjoyable to watch and I definitely can’t wait for the next episode will bring.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 1 "The Savior" Review

The heroes set out to stop Hyde; Emma experiences a mysterious side effect; refugees from the Land of Untold Stories come to Storybrooke; Regina and Zelena become roommates; Rumple enlists a stranger to help free Belle from the sleeping curse.

This was a very interesting and kind of fun episode, but it really didn't have much to it. though this break they brought up how this season was going to have Aladin in it but in this first episode he was in it not really at all, he did really even speak. I did like having the red bird as it was described and how that bird could easily be Lago. But who that bird was with was a little confusing to me because it was an oracle which is fine but I don't really remember an oracle being in many of these tales like Aladin, especially not a little kid one. So I kind of can't wait to see how she connects hopefully later on to the story. I did also like the one comment that Regina made about the people from the Land of Untold Stories and how terrible they must be for trying to hide from living out their stories, but then she remembers that she as the evil queen kind of did the same thing for a long time. Regina and Zelena's relationship is really confusing to me because it seemed like the whole second half of last season was all about the gaining a relationship just to wind up with this episode having them hating each other again. All the parts with Rumple were really interesting with how everything went down. I'm curious as to why in Belle's dream world she still feels like a slave to Rumple. And then the twist ending between Rumple and Belle was really great. Overall this was a really interesting episode and I can't wait to see what the next episode will bring.

Once Upon a Time Season 5 Episode 23 "An Untold Story" Review

Regina and Emma set out to find Henry before Gold does. Meanwhile, Snow, David, Hook, and Zelena are imprisoned.

This was an okay episode but not as great as I was expecting it to be for being a season finale. It did have some very good moments with this but there weren't as many of those moments as this whole episode should have had I feel. I didn't really like all the moments with snow and charming in those characters in the Land of Untold Stories and them working with Jekyll to try and get rid of Hyde. Then it was really cool actually have that moment where Jekyll and Hyde were separated and just seeing a bit of how that would all play out because if I remember right it does happen in the play but not as dramatically as it does in this episode. But with all this Jekyll and Hyde and very curious as to where Emma and Lucy are as I don't think there in the books but they are in the play and fairly important characters so I'm wondering if they might make an appearance at all in Once Upon A Time in the next season or if they're just stick with the book characters. All the parts where the characters were in New York I really didn't care for the whole plot it didn't make much sense and Henry just seems so determined to try and get rid of magic and then when he did want it back almost instantly, and I understood why they decided to put that way but still it wasn't that great of an idea. However, I did really enjoy the scene with them the wishing fountain and how Henry for the briefest of moments got everyone in New York to believe in magic. Then the somewhat ending where the evil queen decides to separate herself from Regina, or I guess all the way around, was interesting but I didn't really care for and now with what is coming in the future because of that choice I care for the decision even less. Overall this was an okay episode there are some moments I really liked but it just wasn't my favorite of episodes.

Once Upon a Time Season 5 Episode 22 "Only You" Review

Regina grieves over Robin Hood's death and Henry sets out to destroy all magic.

This was a very interesting episode that I don't know how I feel about it. I'm not saying it was bad, but it defiantly was a Once Upon a Time finally where it is broken up into two parts so really this whole episode is just setup for what all will happen in a much better second part in the next episode hopefully. I agree with Regina on how Emma was treating her in this episode that it is not fair that when Emma is sad and grieving she and continue on and everyone is on her side, but when Regina is sad everyone thinks she should sit on the sidelines and they are afraid of her and afraid that she might become the evil queen again. Both Rumpelstiltskin and Henry's plans seemed really kind of weird and not thought out in my mind. Just Rumpelstiltskin on a quest to become more powerful and save Belle I just really don't know what I think of that plan. Then with Henry, it was nice to see him taking matters into his own hand and it was cool to see magic in the real world and all of that. But it just seemed so much like Henry was pulling on random strings here and there and the writers were just trying to bring things back into play and make everything have a reason. I also really like all the parts with Snow, Charming, Zelena, and Hook, especially the introduction of a new world and some new characters. And I recognized part of one of the new charterers right away but figuring out which part he is and who the other part is was a surprise and I hope to see even more of both parts in the future. Even though I don't know how I feel about what seems to be a change in the cause of their problems being possibly because of magic instead of science. But that thought of mine could be wrong and the magic part of his life could just be because of the world the writers put this character in. Overall I really like this episode and I can't wait to sit down and see what the second part will bring.

Once Upon a Time Season 5 Episode 21 "Last Rites" Review

Emma, David, Regina, Robin and Henry are finally back home in Storybrooke and reunited with Snow, but, unfortunately, they still have to contend with Hades, who continues to deceive Zelena as he lays out his plan to use the all-powerful Olympian Crystal to take over the town. The heroes desperately search for a way to defeat Hades while Hook does the same in the Underworld, looking for those missing storybook pages. Regina and Robin take a more direct approach, which culminates in an epic showdown that will leave our heroes forever changed.

This was a very interesting episode really all about Hades rise and fall of power, and really just about the team all getting readjusted back in Storybrooke. I really like that this episode primary focused on Hades and Zelena to help and show Zelena's change in opinion of Hades and really having her finally come to the conclusion on her own that no matter how hard she tries she really can not change Hades. It was also really cool to see the Olympian Crystal and here about what it could do because that is a magical artifact that I'm not all the familiar with so I'm curious if it is a real part of the Greek lore or if it is something that the writers made up to give Hades more power. Having Emma be in denial and her running around and not really listening to anyone I really didn't care for and after so much of it, I started to get a little annoyed. All the parts with Hook and Arthur in the underworld were really great especially with all the other characters commenting on how they are on a bro-venture together, which it really was. The change of making Arthur into the new ruler of the underworld felt a little weird to me, but it could easily be because I'm still so used to Arthur being a hero so this villain Arthur that this show has is still really different to me. The scene where Hook meets Zeus was fun and I like that they didn't make Zeus a really big mussel man like some other depictions of Zeus have been. The ending between Regina and Robin was really sad but I hope with how it ended for Zelena as well that this sadness that they both now share will help to bring them even closer. Overall I really enjoyed this episode and it had some great parts to it.

Once Upon a Time Season 5 Episode 20 "Firebird" Review

Hades turns to the heroes to ask for help with getting Zelena back from Rumplestiltskin and Peter Pan. In flashbacks, Emma searches for answers about her family and makes an unexpected friendship.

This was a really great episode that finally got them out of the underworld and told a bit more of Emma's backstory. I liked the team having Hades on their side helping to get Zelena back and finding a way for all of them to get out of the underworld. And now that Hades is out I'm curious to see what his plans might be, especially now with Zelena seeming to do a complete change in personality now that she knows she and Regina used to be friends. I also really like that they tied in the story of Orpheus and how he and his wife managed to escape the underworld because of the fact that I already knew a lot about that story. But it did bug me a bit with the parts that Hades left out some which were later explained why he left it out and other I think they forgot about. They did talk about how after  Orpheus and his wife escaped Hades cut down the tree, but they forgot about the part where Orpheus's wife basically became a zombie-like creature that eventually returned to the underworld because she couldn't go on living. And I don't know how they could have ever thought that was a good idea for Hook, but then again they didn't bring up that part. Then the moments between Rumple and Pan were okay and the only part I really enjoyed was the twist ending that finally got rid of Pan for good, so I'm happy about that. Then the flashback parts showing a younger Emma in her like early twenties was interesting but I also feel like some of the bigger topics in those moments were already talked about in a different way in past episodes. Overall I'm very happy that the team is back in Storybrook and I can't wait to see what might change.
